FedEx address validation level options details [Information]

Modified on Mon, 23 Nov, 2020 at 9:10 PM

When processing orders, you might want to verify the addresses you're shipping the orders to for different reasons.

These are the possible options to choose from:

The details are as follows:

  • No validation: The addresses are not validated at all

  • Check residential: It will validate city/zip/province/country combination and will attempt to detect if the address residential, yet it will allow unknown addresses to FedEx; by unknown addresses we refer to addresses on FedEx's database

  • Full validation: Works as Check Residential, but rejects the address the check if it's not found on FedEx's database

If an address passes the Residential Check (valid city/zip/province/country and the address is residential) but it's not in the FedEx Company Listing Database, that validation will fail.

NOTE: techShip does not correct addresses that fail validation, nor has its own address validation services.

In all cases, we send the address to the carrier (which validates with the services and levels selected on their own engine), and we replicate the message they provide as a response as a visible error message in the batch.
