Understanding Common DHL Worldwide Services [Information]

Modified on Mon, 6 May at 4:46 PM

When shipping through DHL Worldwide Services, it's important to select the right service according to the duties type you will use, as well as origin and destination.

The services details are the following:

  • [D] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: Used for non-dutiable shipments and documents
  • [P] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: Used for dutiable commercial shipments, when the recipient or shipper are not in EU
  • [U] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: Used for dutiable commercial shipments, for merchandise from a EU country to another EU country

These should be combined with the proper configuration for the service selected, according to the instructions here: How to set up DHL Express for International shipping (Customs, Duties) [Step-by-Step guide]

Examples for each could be the following:

  • [D] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: A shipment originated anywhere, sent to anywhere, which is non-dutiable
  • [P] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: A commercial shipment, shipping from the US to Australia
  • [U] EXPRESS WORLDWIDE: A commercial shipment, shipping from the France to Portugal

Failing to do so, will probably result in errors such as:

  • 410138: Requested product(s) not available at payer, P/-: The Service selected is not available based on the shipment origin and destination
  • 7119: Invalid incoterm #/content/incoterm: is not a valid value, please update and try again: The incoterms and duties configuration is not applicable based on the service selected, either one needs to be changed/reconfigured
