When setting up a UPS account, you might need will have UPS send notification e-mails to recipients.
This article is supplementary to the regular setup detailed in the UPS Billing Account Setup article and it considers that the account has already been created and set up, at least for domestic shipping.
WARNING: Make sure you have enabled UPS Quantum View notifications on UPS's end.
NOTE: The notification e-mails are not sent by techShip, they are sent by UPS.
NOTE: The e-mails are sent when the order is processed.
Feel free to follow the step-by-step guide written below or the video guide, as you prefer:
To configure notifications you will have to:
1. Access Clients under the Maintenance menu
2. Click on the client related to the order
3. Edit the Billing Account (Carrier) related to the order and error
4. Select the Carrier Options tab
5. Check the Notify recipient by e-mail checkbox and define other specific elements if needed:
- Recipient events: Allows to selectively define the specific UPS Quantum View notification events will be used to notify the recipient; detailed as:
- QV In-Transit notification: Used for return shipments only
- QV Ship Notification: Used for forward moving shipments only
- QV Exception Notification: Reports exceptions, but not applicable for Ground Freight Pricing
- QV Delivery Notification: Reports shipment delivery
- Return Notification or Label Creation Notification: Reports when the shipment is returned or the label is created
- Alternate Delivery Location Notification: Reports on Alternate Delivery Location
- UAP Shipper Notification: Reports on UPS Access Point Shipper activity
- Additional Notification code: Allows to select an additional notification code to send to the additional e-mail
- Additional e-mail: Allows to provide an additional e-mail to receive the additional notification
6. Press Save to apply the changes
WARNING: If a notification type is rejected, you will see error messages when processing the order. Make sure that the notification types selected are compatible with the type of shipments you are handling (e.g. do not include In-Transit Notification in non-return shipments), and if correct but still failing, reach UPS support inquiring on the issue
If the order has an e-mail address as part of the ship-to information, and it is correct, you will be able to Process or Process and Print, and the e-mail will be sent after you successfully process.
