Setting up Order Management Rules : SKUs [Step-by-Step Guide]

Modified on Mon, 27 Feb, 2023 at 11:28 AM

When setting up order management rules, you might need to set up rules based on SKUs contained in the order.

The different levels of complexity could include:

  • Orders with a specific SKU code among others within
  • Orders with a specific SKU code when unique within

If you are going to use just one value as part of the condition, use the All In or All Not In operator.

If you are going to use more than one value, use the At Least One In operator, separating options with commas.

This is the order and their SKUs we will review in this example:

These are a few possible scenarios:

#1 - Apply actions when a SKU is one of many others within an order

For this technical scenario, a business case could be:

Whenever SKU NOT123 is part of an order, when imported, you need to have the signature required flag applied automatically.

That being the case, it would be defined this way.

At least one in is used, so whenever that SKU is part of any order, the Signature Flag is turned on automatically upon import.

#2 - Apply actions when a SKU is the only one within an order

For this technical scenario, a business case could be:

Whenever SKU DG777 is the only one in an order, when imported, you need to indicate so in the ship-to instructions. If not, no instructions should be filled out, or the current ones should be kept.

That being the case, it would be defined this way.

All In is used, so whenever that SKU is the only one of its type in the order (regardless of the amount of that SKU), the Ship-to Instructions are filled automatically upon import, but if other SKUs are included as part of the order, it wouldn't match the criteria and the action will not be applied.
