Why does Techdinamics request carrier code lists?

Modified on Mon, 2 May, 2022 at 8:07 AM

There are several key reasons why we request carrier code correllation lists:

  1. There is no single standard for a carrier code. There are some widely used code collections, such as SCAC codes, but it is not uncommon for companies to adjust those codes for their own business requirements. Due to these potential differences, Techdinamics sets up a correllation table with the exact codes to be used in the integration for all participating systems.

  2. The carrier list as part of the prerequisites helps us ensure that all the required participating systems are ready for the integration. That means, all systems should have their carrier-related configurations done and finalized, and everyone should be familiar with the shipping rules. All of this will be a part of the UAT performed during the integration setup, and if these are not caught beforehand, it may cause delays in the project schedule.

  3. Having a list with the exact carriers to be used for the integration also allows us to simplify initial setup and maintenance due to fewer overall of the convertion records.
