SAIA - failed to fetch rates: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. [Solution]

Modified on Fri, 22 Mar at 6:00 PM

When processing an order, you might come across the "SAIA - failed to fetch rates: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error.

This happens when the Freight Class is not available or assigned for the order.

There are several solutions to this issue:

  • Assign the value in the WMS
  • Define defaults in techSHIP for when the value is not being passed from the WMS

Given that the first is an issue external to techSHIP and should be solved in the WMS, this article addresses how to solve this problem using techSHIP configurations.

Feel free to follow the step-by-step guide written below or the video guide, as you prefer:

To solve this issue you will have to:

1. Access Clients under the Maintenance menu

2. Click on the Client related to the case

3. Edit the Billing account

4. Open the Carrier Options tab

5. Select the Freight Class you will use by default for shipments through this account from the dropdown

6. Press Save to apply the changes
