How to Set Delivery Limits by Date and Time [Step-by-Step guide]

Modified on Wed, 12 Feb at 4:58 PM

Some shipments may need to be delivered by a certain date and time while rate shopping. To address these situations, techSHIP allows you to set delivery limits by either date or date and time. While rate shopping, it will consider only those carriers that ensure compliance with the set due date.

NOTE: This feature is available for techSHIP Plus/Multi-Site portals only, and for carriers that support it (that report estimated dates). It is not enabled by default, if you don't have it available, reach techSHIP support with a request to do so.

WARNING: Rateshop/ECO check delivery dates must be checked on for this feature to work.

For clarity, the possible scenarios are described below:

A. Delivery limited by date and time

In this scenario, both the Deliver by date (RATESHOP) and Deliver by time (RATESHOP) fields are set.

B. Delivery limited by date only

In this scenario, the Deliver by date (RATESHOP) field is set, but the Deliver by time (RATESHOP) field is not.

C. No delivery limit

In this scenario, neither the Deliver by date (RATESHOP) nor the Deliver by time (RATESHOP) fields are set.

NOTE: This functionality has been extended to all carriers that return the delivery date. If the carrier does not specify the delivery time, the system defaults to 11:59 P.M. If the carrier does not return a date, it will be excluded from rate shopping.

NOTE: While you can manually edit the order and specify the delivery by date and time fields as shown in this guide, you might find it useful to integrate this feature with your WMS or via API calls. For more information, refer to Getting started using techSHIP API [Information].

WARNING: If you have already specified the carrier and service, techSHIP will not make the rate call to the carrier and will not return the delivery date or time. Advanced rate shopping restrictions will still be applied (such as when using Delivery Days conditions), but only to those carriers that meet the previous criteria. For more information, refer to Advanced Restrictions: Delivery Days [Step-by-Step Guide].
