How to Edit a Product [Step-by-Step Guide]

When performing maintenance tasks, you may need to Edit your Products.

This article describes how to edit the main Product data, including Name, Code, and Category. If you need to add or edit product variants, or the simple product details, review:

WARNING: If techOMS is not set as your Account's Master Product Source, we recommend making changes directly in your Master Product Channel instead of using this procedure.

Otherwise, be aware that changes made here:

• Will propagate to your non-master channels.
  
• Will not sync back to your designated Master Product Channel.
• May be overwritten during future synchronizations from the Master Product Channel.

NOTE: Make sure that you are operating at the right Vendor/Warehouse beforehand.

To edit a product you will have to:

1. Click Products under Inventory

2. Click Edit to deploy the fields for editing

3. Modify the fields accordingly

Section A - Basic information

• Name: Product full name
• Code: Product code value
• Category: Assign an optional category to your Product. Enter a new value, or start typing to search for and select a previously used category. A Category can contain up to 255 characters.

NOTE: Your Product Variants display the current Category from the parent Product as a read-only value. To change the Category shown on a Variant, update the Category on the Product.

Section B - Variants and References

These tabs allow to switch between the Product Variants list and the Product References list

Section C - Search bar

Use the Search bar to find Variants or References depending on the Tab you are viewing

Section D - Actions

Action buttons allow you to perform actions over the row of the Variant or Reference you are working with

• Add: Opens a pop-up to complete the fields to define the element
• Edit: Opens a pop-up to edit fields that define the element 
• Disable: Disables the product as detailed in How to Enable or Disable a Product or Product Variant [Step-by-Step Guide].
• Delete: Allows to delete the element, requirit

4. Press Save to apply the changes
