Getting Started: techOMS Setup Checklist [Information]

Modified on Thu, 1 Aug at 12:15 PM

As you begin configuring and using your techOMS portal, you will have to configure specific elements in different phases.

WARNING: This article does NOT describe the steps to fully go live, but to prepare a techOMS environment for proper testing and preparation for it. A link to a Go Live checklist is provided at the end with that purpose.

This article reviews these points and how these should be checked and/or set, in the following distinctive sections:

  • Term Definitions And Basic Details

  • Warehouse Setup

  • Account Setup

  • Carrier Setup

  • Sales And Fulfillment Channel Setup

  • Product Import/creation & Inventory Setup

  • Sales Order And Fulfillment Channel Rules Setup (Optional)

  • Global Alert Settings (Optional)

  • Go Live Checklist (Post Setup And Testing)

NOTE: This process is a joint process between Techdinamics' Staff and you. Techdinamics' Staff will preset several base elements, and you will need to complete the setup according to your business scenarios. If needed, you can request for guidance into how to configure specific parameters.

TERM DEFINITIONS AND BASIC DETAILS

As part of the setup, there are three key terms that you will come across: Organization, Account and Warehouse. Let's review these definitions from an operational perspective:

  • Organization: Structure under which warehouses, accounts, users and account users are defined.
  • Account: Warehouse customer or seller; if your organization is the seller, it may be the same name as the Organization, or a division of it.
  • (Organization) Users: Users that have access at the Organization level
  • Account Users: Users that have access under a specific Account, meaning in practice, limited access to the data of that account (customer/client/seller) only

For a full glossary, consult techOMS terms Glossary [Information].

NOTEOrganizations and Organization Users should have been created PRIOR to the following phases by Techdinamics' System Administrators, while you will access as an Organization User to create and configure the other elements.

WAREHOUSE SETUP

Warehouses need to be set up and configured as part of the Portal.

Follow the steps and complete the parameters as indicated in the following articles.

Once ready, return and move forward to the next phase.

ACCOUNT SETUP

Accounts need to be set up and configured in order to store each Client's information isolated from the others as part of the Portal.

Make sure the Account settings are set up according to your operational needs.

Recurring Jobs can also be set up for automation purposes, but these should be set up once you're ready to go live, and will be referred to in the link at the end of this article.

Follow the steps and complete the parameters as indicated in the following articles.

Once ready, return and move forward to the next phase.

CARRIER SETUP

Carriers and Service Levels are needed as a base, and can later be configured and mapped (associated) with Sales and Fulfillment Channels.

Follow the steps and complete the parameters as indicated in the following articles.

Once ready, return and move forward to the next phase.

SALES AND FULFILLMENT CHANNEL SETUP

Channel connections need to be established, in order to connect techOMS to Sales Channels and Fulfillment Channels.

These will establish a base which will need to be revisited as specific setup elements within them are to be configured later. This specific section details the basic setup elements, while in further sections, additional related configurations will be presented.

For both, make sure the following elements are configured in accordance to your operational needs:

  • Warehouse Mappings (targeting external locations/systems, e.g. Shopify location)
  • Carrier Mappings
  • SKU Mappings (might need to revisit after import)
  • Main and Advanced Settings
  • Integrations tab for WMS credentials

NOTEIf you are not sure about how to complete a specific value or parameter, reach a Techdinamics Product Specialist for support.

Follow the steps and complete the parameters as indicated in the following articles.

Once ready, return and move forward to the next phase.

Fulfillment Channels

Once ready, return and move forward to the next phase.
