In real-world operations, completing an order fulfillment or receipt in a single operation isn't always possible. When this happens, the order is considered partially fulfilled or received.
To manage this efficiently, techOMS updates the order status to Fulfilling or Receiving until all items are processed, at which point the status changes to Shipped or Received. The following sections detail these processes along with the corresponding shipment and receipt statuses.
NOTE: In all scenarios, quantities shipped and tracking numbers are communicated to the sales channel. This article is divided into the following sections:
- Partial Fulfillment
- Partial Receipt
I. PARTIAL FULFILLMENT
The following table details how Partial Fulfillment is reflected in techOMS according to different scenarios:
| FULFILLED = REQUIRED? | DETAILED SCENARIO | techOMS BEHAVIOR | SHIPMENT STATUS | SALES ORDER STATUS |
![]() | A shipment has been received for a single order, but the required quantity has not yet been reached. | Wait for additional shipments. | Short Shipped | Fulfilling |
![]() | Multiple shipments were received for a single order, and those cover all the required quantities. | Close order. | Shipped | Shipped |
NOTE: If needed, you can mark a fulfilling sales order as shipped by following the steps in How to Mark Sales Orders as Shipped [Step-by-Step Guide].Short Shipped is the status for an individual Shipment. The overall Sales Order remains in a Fulfilling status until all quantities have been shipped.
