When techOMS interacts with other systems—either fulfillment or sales channels—it must manage various Unit of Measurement (UOM) modes and schemas. This article explains how UOMs are handled in techOMS and the types it supports.
UOM MANAGEMENT IN TECHOMS
techOMS stores measurements in millimeters (mm) for length and grams (g) for weight. You can set the UOM for display in the UI and for GET API requests.
WARNING: The Calculate Time & Transit Action for sales order rules, always send weight in pounds (lbs) to techSHIP.
UOM HANDLING BY CHANNELS
techOMS channels synchronize products, shipments, and packages using their dimensions and weight. The UOM synchronization applies only to products, not to shipments or packages.
PRODUCT UOM SOURCE | ||||
TYPE | MODE | DESCRIPTION | RECEIVING | SENDING |
1 | Dynamic | You can select the UOMs as supported by the channel. | Product-specific | Channel settings |
2 | Static | You can use (but not select) UOMs as supported by the channel. | Channel settings | Channel settings |
3 | None | No predefined UOMs. Displays all UOMs supported by techOMS. | Channel settings | Channel settings |
